Wizkid’s ‘Piece of My Heart’ sets new Spotify streaming record
Nigerian Superstar Wizkid Sets New First-Day Streaming Record on Spotify Nigeria
Wizkid has made waves in the music industry by setting a new record for the most first-day streams on Spotify Nigeria with his latest release, ‘Piece of My Heart,’ featuring American artist Brent Faiyaz. The song, which debuted on October 19, 2024, amassed an impressive 1.1 million streams on its opening day.
This achievement surpasses the previous record, which Wizkid shared with Asake for their collaboration on ‘MMS’ from Asake’s third album, ‘Lungu Boy.’ With this latest feat, Wizkid now holds the top three spots for the highest opening day streams on Spotify Nigeria, with ‘IDK,’ his collaboration with Zlatan, claiming the third position.
‘Piece of My Heart’ blends R&B elements with the mid-tempo bounce that Wizkid is known for, making it a standout track. It also marks a significant milestone as the first song from any African artist to reach 1 million opening day streams on Spotify.
This record-breaking success underscores Wizkid’s stature as one of Nigeria’s most commercially successful artists and highlights the growing popularity of streaming in Nigeria, particularly as Spotify continues to expand its presence in the region.

The release of ‘Piece of My Heart’ kicks off what Wizkid refers to as the ‘Morayo’ era, as he gears up for the launch of his highly anticipated sixth album on November 22, 2024. At the London release party for the single, he hinted at new songs from the album, which he has dedicated to his late mother.
