WAEC announces date for WASSCE CBT exams

The final timetable for the examination is now available for download on the WAEC Nigeria website.

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced that the Computer-Based Test (CBT) for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for Private Candidates, 2024 – Second Series, is set to begin on Friday, October 25, and will run until Friday, December 20, 2024.

In a statement released on Tuesday, October 22, WAEC outlined this year’s hybrid examination format, which combines digital and traditional methods. “The examination will adopt a hybrid mode, where objective or multiple-choice questions will be displayed on-screen, and candidates will respond directly on-screen. For essay and practical questions, while the questions will also appear on-screen, responses must be written in the provided answer booklets,” the statement explained.

WAEC also announced an extension of the registration deadline to Tuesday, October 29, 2024. Candidates will have the option to complete the entire exam using the traditional Paper and Pen mode if they prefer. This allows candidates to register just 24 hours before their selected exam paper.

Candidates are encouraged to take advantage of various learning resources. “All candidates are advised to register on the WAEC e-Study platform, purchase WAEC Past Questions and Answers, and engage with peers on the WAECKonnect platform,” WAEC advised.

The Council concluded by wishing all candidates success in their examinations and reaffirming its commitment to enhancing the examination process through technological innovations. “WAEC will continue to implement technological advancements to ensure its services are easily accessible to all stakeholders,” the statement emphasized.
