“Tiwa Savage Shares Insights on Balancing Motherhood with Her Music Career”
Despite the saying that it takes a village to raise a child, Tiwa Savage firmly believes in her ability to be both a devoted mother and a successful career woman. The Nigerian singer welcomed her son, Jamil, in 2015 while still married to her ex-husband, Tee Billz.
In a recent interview on the Big Friday Show with BBNaija alumnus Tacha, Tiwa candidly discussed the challenges of managing her music career while raising her son. She emphasized the vital role of support in her life as a single mother.
Reflecting on her journey, she said, “It takes a village. Raising my son as a single mum, I always need my mum. She’s very instrumental, and we have a nanny who has been with us since he was three months old. Now, he’s nine, so she has been part of our lives for nine years.”
Tiwa also highlighted the contributions of her son’s godmothers, who assist her during work-related travels. She noted that motherhood doesn’t cease when children reach their teenage years. “I look at my mum, and she still mothers me at this age. She calls to check if I’ve eaten and reminds me to drink plenty of water and rest. When she sees things online, she still worries about me at my big age. Our jobs don’t end.”
Tiwa concluded by expressing her belief in women’s ability to juggle multiple responsibilities, calling it their superpower. “I can literally be a full-time mum and a full-time career woman.”
