Oyo State Governor Makinde Mourns Passage Of Elder Brother

Engineer Sunday Makinde, an older brother to the governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, has died. He died at age 65.
Engineer Sunday died at 3:20 a.m. at his residence on Friday, January 24, 2025, in Ibadan, the state capital of Oyo. The news was made public by the Bada Olubadan of Ibadanland, Chief Olumuyiwa Makinde.
He expressed his grief, saying, “With a heavy heart, I announce the passage of my older brother, Engr Sunday Makinde, to eternal glory today, Friday, 24th of January 2025.”
A statement by the special adviser on media to the Oyo State governor, Sulaimon Olanrewaju, described the late older brother of the governor as a community figure and a respected family member.
Engineer Sunday left behind children, grandchildren, and siblings, including Governor Makinde.
His family members have solicited for privacy at this grieving time, while funeral preparation is yet to be confirmed. People across the country have commiserated with the governor and other family members.
