Omoni Oboli’s The Uprising: Wives on Strike 3 generates N10 million in presale vouchers
Nigerian actress and filmmaker Omoni Oboli is back on the big screen with her latest film, The Uprising: Wives on Strike 3, which has achieved an impressive N10 million in presale ticket voucher sales.
This accomplishment comes after the launch of an innovative voucher system designed to boost early film ticket sales. The presale figures were shared by Oboli in an Instagram post, where she expressed her appreciation to fans for their support:
“We have sold N10 million in vouchers alone, and counting. This is massive! Because of you, so many people will get to watch The Uprising for free,” she wrote, celebrating the movie’s early momentum.
Nigerian Box Office also confirmed the news, noting, “Omoni Oboli & Nile group have announced that The Uprising made N10M in presales. That’s a huge figure for a new system launched a few weeks ago.”
The movie, which is now showing across the country, marks Oboli’s return to cinemas after a five-year hiatus. Its premiere, held on October 13, 2024, at EbonyLife Place in Lagos, was graced by Nollywood stars such as Uche Jombo, Hilda Dokubo, Chioma Akpotha, and Femi Branch, along with other media personalities and industry influencers.
Key Details
The presale success of The Uprising is largely attributed to the launch of the “Atlas by Reach” voucher system, developed by Nile Media Entertainment Group. This new platform allows moviegoers to buy tickets in advance and gift them to others, making it easier for fans and influencers to promote films before their release. Nile Media’s CEO, Moses Babatope, emphasized that this innovation has the potential to grow ticket sales, increase admissions, and boost the entertainment sector’s economic impact:
“We are pushing boundaries in Nollywood by introducing a groundbreaking system that redefines the way tickets are sold. Pre-selling for films is now a reality, and it’s transforming the industry,” Babatope stated.
Launched in conjunction with The Uprising, the voucher system’s early success suggests a promising future for similar strategies in Nollywood. Babatope highlighted that this approach could inspire other filmmakers to adopt pre-sales, enhancing box office performance and expanding their audience reach.
