Nigerian Ayra Starr Wins Big At BET Awards


Ayra Starr, Nigerian Afrobeats crooner, has won her first-ever BET Award, going home with the Best International Act at the 2025 BET Awards held at the Peacock Arena, Los Angeles.
She won against other big artists like Tyla and Rema in the same category.
Ayra Starr was also nominated in two other categories, including Best Female R\&B/Pop Artist and Best New Artist, which she lost to SZA and Leon Thomas, respectively.
Another Nigerian artist, Tems, was nominated twice in the Best Her category, which she lost to Summer Walker. Kendrick Lamar, an American rapper, was the star of the night, earning five out of ten nominations.
