Lagos AG Confirms Arrival of US Toxicology Report on Late Singer Mohbad!
Lagos State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Lawal Pedro (SAN), announced on October 21 that the toxicology report and other forensic analyses from the US regarding the late singer Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, known as Mohbad, have officially been received.
During a press conference at the Ministry of Justice Conference Room in Alausa, Ikeja, Pedro confirmed that the autopsy report is now in the hands of the Lagos State Pathologist and the coroner magistrate. This briefing was part of his first-year anniversary in office and an upcoming strategic stakeholders’ meeting.
Pedro acknowledged the delays in the investigation, attributing them to the time required for thorough forensic processes. “On the Mohbad case, yes, I agree there has been a delay, and the delay is caused by time taken for investigation,” he stated.
He emphasized the importance of comprehensive investigative procedures, including forensic analysis and toxicology, to ensure that any case presented in court is backed by sufficient evidence for a conviction.
“These forensic analyses and toxicology tests are crucial for a full-proof investigation that can lead to conviction in court,” Pedro explained.
The Attorney General also highlighted that the toxicology examination had to be conducted in the US due to the destruction of the Lagos DNA and Forensic Centre during the #EndSARS protests of October 2020.
