“Jesse Jagz: ‘Your Prayers Alone Won’t Build Schools or Buy Books for Children'”

Singer and rapper Jesse Jagz has called on Nigerians to rethink their religious practices.

He expressed the view that the African traditional religious gods are “drunk” due to the alcohol that priests offer them during rituals. He suggested that this leads to their being overweight, diabetic, and ultimately ineffective for their worshippers.

During his appearance on the ‘Big Talk’ podcast, Jagz criticized followers of foreign religions for relying solely on prayer while expecting miracles to happen without taking action. He highlighted that prayers alone do not create basic social amenities.

“When you go to a shrine and see the priest pouring gin on the gods, look up how much a bottle of gin cost during slavery—40 slaves.

“Our gods are drunk on alcohol and meat. They are obese and diabetic.

“They can’t assist us in achieving anything. Prayers do not build roads or buy books for children. We have forgotten humanity,” he stated.
