Is the Apple Music Top 10 Manipulated?
Singer Chike has claimed that the Apple Music Nigeria top songs chart is significantly compromised. He specifically pointed out that both the top 10 and top 20 charts are often manipulated.
During a recent episode of “Curiosity Made Me Ask,” hosted by content creator Bae U Barbie, Chike revealed that he could easily secure a spot on the Apple Music chart by simply instructing his team to invest in boosting his streams. “Your Top 10 and Top 20 on Apple Music is rigged… Not always, but most of the time,” he remarked.
He further commented on the nature of promotions in the industry, stating, “I think people are willing to do certain things for promotion. With all the music being released right now, visibility is key. If you don’t put it in front of people, they may not notice it.”
Chike explained that he could reach the top 10 by directing his team to spend around $30,000, emphasizing, “But then it’s not genuine. And don’t get me wrong, not everyone does this, but it’s often the case. I won’t be spending money to compete against people who may have more resources than I do.”
