Court Grants Speed Darlington N20 Million Bail In Cybercrime Case

The arraignment of Speed Darlington before the Federal High Court in Abuja has taken a new turn as the court granted him N20 million with one surety of equivalent value on Wednesday.
The ruling was granted by the presiding judge, Justice Ekerete Akpan, after the singer, who was represented by his counsel, Marshall Abubakar, pleaded not guilty to the counts of charges levelled against him relating to alleged cybercrime.
The judge stated in his ruling that the surety must be a Level 10 civil servant who is a resident of Abuja and will also tender an affidavit of means.
The judge also asked the singer to submit his international passport, including his two recently taken passport photographs, along with the level 10 civil servant surety, to the court registrar. Speed Darlington will be held at the Kuje Correctional Centre until his bail condition is perfected.
The matter has been adjourned until March 18 for trial.
