Burna Boy announces, “I’m now wealthier than those I once looked up to.”

A prominent music executive recently declared Burna Boy the wealthiest Nigerian artist, affirming that no other musician has matched his earnings over the past four years.

Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, known globally as Burna Boy, took to Instagram to highlight his financial success, proudly stating he’s surpassed many of the figures he once admired. In a now-disappeared Story post on Saturday, the Grammy-winning artist shared insights on resilience and ambition, urging others not to underestimate anyone’s potential for success.

Reflecting on his journey, Burna Boy wrote, “Imagine growing up when only politicians and oil men were making REAL money, followed by the ‘G boys.’ Music wasn’t even part of the conversation around wealth. Now, a dark-skinned musician from Port Harcourt has out-earned 90% of those he looked up to.”

He continued, “This is why I never count out young people—they could be the next Elon Musk, sharing this same message tomorrow.”

The statement follows a recent proclamation by Jude Okoye, a music executive and brother to Paul and Peter Okoye of the defunct P-Square, who publicly recognized Burna Boy as the richest Nigerian artist. Okoye estimated Burna Boy’s earnings at around $80-100 million over the past four years, stating during an Instagram Live with radio host Daddy Freeze, “Anyone making unbelievable money is Burna Boy. He’s the richest Nigerian artist, and I’m telling you the truth.”
