Benjamin Mendy Partially Wins $14.2 Million Unpaid Wages Case Against Manchester City

Former Manchester City defender Benjamin Mendy has secured a partial victory in his legal case against the club, claiming over $14.2 million in unpaid wages. Mendy’s claim focused on wages withheld by City from September 2021, following charges of sexual offenses, until his contract ended in June 2023.

Acquitted of six counts of rape and one count of sexual assault in January 2023, Mendy was further found not guilty of an additional rape and attempted rape charge after a retrial. Based on these rulings, he argued that Manchester City unlawfully withheld wages, despite assurances he would be compensated if cleared.

In her written ruling, Judge Joanne Dunlop acknowledged Mendy’s entitlement to a portion of the wages but did not award the full amount he claimed.
